How it works
Growth hormone-releasing peptide-6 (GHRP-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide that activates the ghrelin receptor and can provoke pituitary growth-hormone release. It is not recombinant growth hormone and has no FDA-approved U.S. drug product, indication, or dose.
GHRP-6, GHRP-2, ipamorelin, ibutamoren, macimorelin, and natural ghrelin can share receptor biology while remaining different molecules with different evidence and regulatory status. Findings or approvals for one cannot be assigned to another.
Benefits & side effects
Small studies show that intravenous GHRP-6 can provoke growth-hormone release. In 20 patients assessed against an insulin-tolerance test, GHRP-6 alone or with GHRH separated study-defined deficient and sufficient groups under the investigators’ conditions.[1] Four repeat tests in 17 healthy adults found the combined GHRH plus GHRP-6 hormone response reproducible.[2]
These are diagnostic physiology findings, not trials of muscle growth, fat loss, recovery, injury healing, longevity, or athletic performance. No reliable clinical-outcome evidence establishes GHRP-6 for those uses.
