What “HGH 191AA” means

Somatropin is recombinant human growth hormone. The current Genotropin label describes a 191-amino-acid protein with the same amino-acid sequence as pituitary human growth hormone.[1] The informal term "HGH 191AA" describes a claimed sequence; it is not a regulatory product name, quality certificate, potency test, or proof of sterility.

Approved somatropin products differ in delivery system, excipients, concentration, indications, and instructions. Evidence for one approved product cannot be transferred to an unlabeled powder sold online merely because both are described as 191 amino acids.

Where human evidence is established

Genotropin is FDA-approved for defined pediatric growth disorders and for replacement of endogenous growth hormone in adults with confirmed childhood- or adult-onset growth hormone deficiency.[1] Adult diagnosis ordinarily requires appropriate provocative testing, with limited exceptions, and treatment is supervised by clinicians experienced in growth-hormone disorders.

The Endocrine Society guideline reports benefits in body composition, exercise capacity, skeletal integrity, and quality-of-life measures in appropriately diagnosed adults, while emphasizing individualized benefit-risk assessment.[2] This grade A conclusion applies to replacement therapy for a diagnosed deficiency, not to healthy aging, bodybuilding, recovery, or weight loss.

Anti-aging and performance claims

A systematic review of randomized trials in healthy older adults found small changes in fat and lean mass but no significant weight change, and higher rates of edema, joint pain, carpal-tunnel syndrome, and gynecomastia; it concluded that growth hormone could not be recommended as anti-aging therapy.[3] Those findings do not establish improved strength, function, longevity, or overall health.

Growth hormone and its releasing factors are prohibited in sport under the current World Anti-Doping Agency list.[4] A claim that a product is for "research" does not change that status for an athlete.

Known risks of approved somatropin

The current Genotropin label includes contraindications and warnings that make unsupervised use particularly concerning. Pharmacologic somatropin increased mortality in two trials of critically ill adults without growth-hormone deficiency; the label also addresses active malignancy, severe diabetic retinopathy, glucose intolerance and diabetes, intracranial hypertension, fluid retention, hypersensitivity, endocrine interactions, and pediatric-specific risks.[1]

In adults with deficiency, fluid retention can present as edema, arthralgia, myalgia, paresthesia, or carpal-tunnel syndrome and is often dose-dependent. Safety data from regulated replacement therapy do not quantify the additional identity, contamination, potency, or sterility risk of an unapproved vial.

Product-specific regulatory status

Somatropin is an active ingredient in FDA-approved prescription products, but "HGH 191AA" is not itself an FDA approval. The approval applies to the exact finished product and labeled population. It does not validate a compounded product, imported vial, online research product, different delivery system, or use outside the label.

FDA does not approve compounded drugs or verify their safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing, and an unapproved product is not an approved generic.[5] Teloryx therefore does not publish a generic somatropin reconstitution or dosing protocol.
