How it works
Mazdutide is a peptide agonist of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. It received its first marketing approval in China in June 2025 for chronic weight management in specified adults with obesity or overweight and weight-related comorbidity.[1] Approval is jurisdiction-, product-, and indication-specific; it does not make an online research vial equivalent to the authorized Chinese product.
Benefits & side effects
In a phase 3 double-blind trial in China, adults received mazdutide or placebo for 48 weeks. At week 48, estimated mean weight change was −11.0% with 4 mg, −14.0% with 6 mg, and +0.3% with placebo.[2] Gastrointestinal adverse events were common. These results support a defined clinical product and population, not unmonitored use or extrapolation to different vial formulations.
